Scorched

He steps into the shower. Hot water washes over him, rivulets pouring down his body and taking his troubles with them down the drain. He breathes in the steam and then breathes out slowly as he’s scorched white from the inside out. Now everything is blank, erased, empty. A peculiar feeling touches his heart; he shivers and trembles, so vulnerable, and shrinks away from nothing at all.
He begins to cry.
