Daffodils, Chains, and Paper Cuts ~ 1:36am
Looking back, I can see it now
Although you cared for me
You couldn’t stop yourself
Your little lies may not tear flesh
But they still sting
Like pins and paper cuts
I carry these lies, these scratches of sin
Flaws you struck in innocence
I thought once as battle scars for a better cause
Because of you, and because of me
I’m chained to secrets and secrecy
And the world is painted in yet another shade of grey
I may have been blind with lust
But I could still feel the space
Between our love and lonely souls
We were never meant to grow old together
I was your dew, your daffodil
Never meant to survive the winter
And you’re alive and doing all too well
I’ll extend my thanks and bitterness
To your ghost haunting my withering sanity
Although you cared for me
You couldn’t stop yourself
Your little lies may not tear flesh
But they still sting
Like pins and paper cuts
I carry these lies, these scratches of sin
Flaws you struck in innocence
I thought once as battle scars for a better cause
Because of you, and because of me
I’m chained to secrets and secrecy
And the world is painted in yet another shade of grey
I may have been blind with lust
But I could still feel the space
Between our love and lonely souls
We were never meant to grow old together
I was your dew, your daffodil
Never meant to survive the winter
And you’re alive and doing all too well
I’ll extend my thanks and bitterness
To your ghost haunting my withering sanity
