Above the crowd, all I can focus on is his face. That smug smirk is as clear in my memories as it is on the widescreen suspended sixty feet above the tops of people’s heads.
The live screen’s modifications on his face, do him a justice that he does not deserve.
I will give him what he deserves.
I move closer to the ledge, unafraid of the fall that would be sure to come if I took just one more step. I know that my aching bones would welcome the rush of air that would finally break them.
But my last breath is yet to be offered.
“Cyrion.” The crackle of the earpiece doesn’t bite as much as it used to, when I first heard Gabriel’s bark. “This isn’t the answer.”
“I don’t seek answers.” I call forth my astra, and the weapon materializes within my already curled fingers. “Forgive that I sin.”
“You belong in the Heavens.”
I smile, pulling the bowstring taut against the arrow that is aimed at the sole heart on the podium.
“But I’ve always been bound for Hell.”
